Releasing Balloons Into The Wild

I don't understand why so many schools and other organizations release balloons into the sky. Sure, it's fun to watch, it's fun to do, it can even be quite symbolic, etcetera... but it is still littering. Isn't littering wrong? Illegal, even? But, we don't ever see the balloons come down, right? So really, they magically disappear into rainbows and sunshine.

Oh well. At least it makes for good photos. Happy 50th Birthday Parowan Elementary School.

The Storm Before The Calm

I'm about to have four days of not working, but that seemed to mean that today was an endlessly long day. Aside from six assignments and some file art to pull, two of my memory cards abruptly began behaving in a temperamental manner, costing me 438 lost photos from the day. Here's some of what I shot of which I still have visual record:
